Admission & Hours

The History Museum complex is admission FREE.
Saturday – Sunday, noon-4pm.

Open to the Public: The main gallery featuring: “Beauty and the Beast: California Wildflowers and Climate Change,” and the Museum store.

* Note, the 2nd floor train diorama and permanent exhibition, and the J. Gilbert Smith House remain closed. We look forward to reopening them as soon as we are able.

Thursdays are available for small group/self-directed tours and must be scheduled a minimum of 1 week in advance. To arrange a tour click here.

Please Note:

  • Masks must be worn by visitors age 2 and older
  • Proper social distancing (6ft) will be observed on premise
  • Entry is limited to 8 people in the Gallery at a time
  • Parking is limited due to nearby construction
  • Our public restrooms are closed
  • Please refrain from visiting if you have cold or flu-like symptoms or believe you may have been exposed to someone with COVID-19

Tour Information

Groups of 10 or more may request a guided tour. Please call 650.948.9427 x14 to arrange a tour. The Museum is open to the public Thursday–Sunday, noon-4pm. Tours outside our open hours are $5/person; tours during open hours are donation-optional.
