Nestled amidst majestic heritage oaks and one of the last few remaining apricot orchards of Santa Clara Valley, the grounds and facilities of the Los Altos History Museum provide a captivating backdrop to share life’s most significant events and create its most cherished memories. Whether saying your wedding vows under the stately redwood pergola or dancing the night away with a view of the Museum’s lush moonlit gardens, you and your guests will never forget the experience as you create your own history in a setting of true natural beauty and relaxed sophistication.

The Museum is available for wedding rentals* on Fridays, Saturdays & Sundays, and other special event rentals during the week. Use the form below to check availability.

*Wedding rental season runs the first weekend of May through the first weekend in October.

Your rental fees help support the Museum’s award-winning exhibits and programs.

Rental Hours

Our pricing is based on an 8 or 9-hour rental. This is when your vendors arrive at 3pm until they leave at either 11pm or midnight (depending on your choice to add additional hour).

The earliest you can start your event is 5pm. For wedding ceremonies, we recommend 5pm giving your caterer & vendors ample time to ready the venue. Our standard contract allows your event to end at 10pm and cleanup completed by 11pm. Feel free to add an extra hour to your event if you feel it is necessary, but the latest events can go is to 11pm, with cleanup by midnight.

Special Occasions & Meetings Rentals

Hourly rates for anniversaries, birthdays, corporate parties, reunions, or other non-wedding events. Four hour minimum. Saturdays are reserved for wedding event / wedding pricing only.

Deposits & Additional Fees

Security & Rentals Deposit

  • Your $1,300 Security & Rental deposit is a buffer for any damages to museum property or should you choose to rent any tables, chairs or video equipment. 
  • If you don’t break anything and don’t rent anything then you would receive $1,300 back.
  • If you rent any tables, chairs or other equipment from the Museum, after your event, you will be given an accounting of items you rented and a check for the remaining balance.

Outside Caterer Fee

  • Our list of caterers is very large and you will likely find a good match for your event. There are times when clients have a good reason to choose a caterer that is not on this list. 
  • You may bring in your own choice of caterer for a fee of $1,000
  • We charge this fee as all the caterers on our list donate at least this much every year to special Museum fundraisers, exhibit openings and member appreciation dinners. In recognition of their generous donations we protect the list. 
  • The $1,000 fee goes into that same pool of donations for the same purpose.

Payment Methods

  • We accept Credit Cards [Visa, MasterCard, Discover & Amex] and checks for payment methods. There is a 3.5% fee for credit card payment. There are no fees for check payments.

We had our reception here at the museum and it was everything I hoped for. I wouldn’t change a thing. We loved the bricks and greenery, it felt like we were in an isolated garden and not in the heart of Los Altos.

What a beautiful venue! We had our wedding/reception here in May and have nothing but good things to say about LAHM. The buildings are picturesque, the flower gardens were immaculately manicured, and the grounds overall are very well maintained.

....This was the PERFECT venue and when we were standing in the middle of the grounds, we just looked at each other with the biggest smiles. You really don't have to decorate much because they have beautiful flowers that just happened to bloom on our wedding day.

We really liked this venue because it lends itself to being broken up into sub areas (e.g. cocktail hour in the forest, photo booth in the canopy, dancing indoors, dinner on the patio, etc) and allows you to seamlessly transition between indoor and outdoor areas.

It worked out especially well for an Indian wedding as the flower-adorned pergola is a much nicer substitute for the standard mandap (Indian wedding altar) rentals.
