February 15, 2018 through April 29, 2018
J. Gilbert Smith House
In partnership with the Day Worker Center of Mountain View and directed by volunteer Naomi Zamir. Seven Quilts are displayed, created block by block by the day workers. Each square depicts the stories, memories, dreams, ideas and hopes of the day worker who created it.
Involving a 140 men and women since it began in September 2010, this project invited individuals at the Day Worker Center to create quilt blocks as part of their English-language learning program. Each block was made by a student to express what was on his or her mind and the concept had to then be presented to the group in English.
Free Opening Reception at the Los Altos History Museum, Sunday, February 18th, 2-4pm.
