About the Exhibit
The exhibit celebrates the life, accomplishments and passions of this Pulitzer Prize-winning novelist. Stegner founded and led the prestigious Creative Writing Program at Stanford University, and as an environmentalist, he fought successfully to save the foothills surrounding the university and for the incorporation of Los Altos Hills. Many of Stegner’s former students, including Scott Turow and Larry McMurtry, contributed testimonials and personal letters to the exhibit illustrating his impact on the writers that he taught and adding to the personal memorabilia on display.
