Deputy Director Heather Farquhar will provide a special tour of the J. Gilbert Smith House and discuss the History of Valentine’s Day and its customs.
“Love is a universal emotion that has evolved over time and place to embody different romantic ideals,” said Farquhar. “What romantic words would J. Gilbert Smith have told his wife Margaret? Where and when did Valentine’s Day originate, and how does the holiday reflect society’s views about romantic conduct, consumerism, humor, and social inclusion? We’ll cover it all in these guided tours.”
The tour is free, but reservations are required via ticketing below. Space is limited.
