In this talk\, Indigenous scholar Michael Wilcox (Stanford Univer sity) will examine the long-term presence of the tribe in the San Francisc o Bay Area from the end of the Ice Age until the present. We will discuss traditional land use practices and food systems as well as the untold hist ory of resistance and rebellion and the San Francisco Bay Area. \n\nAbout the Program\nMichael Wilcox is an Indigenous/Native American scholar (Yum an descent) who has taught at Stanford University since 2001. He is curren tly a Senior Lecturer in Native American Studies in the Center for Compara tive Studies in Race and Ethnicity. Seven years ago\, Wilcox began a Calif ornia native plants garden at Stanford for students to learn about the his tory and culture of the Muwekma Ohlone Tribe. He also serves as the Tribal Historic Preservation Officer for the Muwekma Ohlone Tribe of the San Fra ncisco Bay Area and is a founding board member of the Muwekma Ohlone Cultu ral Preservation Land Trust.\n\nThis program is now sold out.
