Event Details

Step back in time and experience how ranchos from the Rancho period operated. This family-friendly event offers hands-on activities for all ages.
Enjoy fun and games, educational exhibits, demonstrations in drop spindle spinning and leather making, music and dance performances, and traditional Mexican cuisine. Learn about the important roles horses and vaqueros played at Los Altos ranchos. Sign up for art workshops in piñata making or traditional Hojalata (Mexican Tin Folk Art).
The two ranchos in our area stretched up into the hills, and were known as “los altos” during the Mexican period. We celebrate that heritage in the Hill’s section of the Museum’s upcoming new Permanent Exhibition, opening in 2023.
- Admission: $7 per person, payable at the entry gate. Children 12 and under free.
- Free admission for Museum members!

All proceeds support the Permanent Exhibition Capital Campaign.
