To commemorate the 250th anniversary of the United States, Los Altos History Museum and the Los Altos Chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution invite local students to get creative in a Poster Contest inspired by the prompt “A Moment that Helped Shape America.” Students are asked to create a poster highlighting an important event or person since the Declaration of Independence in 1776 that made a lasting impact on the nation.
About the Contest
Students in grades 3 – 12 who live in or attend school in Los Altos, Los Altos Hills, or Mountain View are encouraged to create an original poster responding to the contest theme. Winning posters will be featured in the Museum’s America’s 250th exhibit, and the winner in each division will receive a $100 cash prize. Entries must be received at the Museum by 4:00 pm on May 15, 2026. See the contest rules and submission form for details and how to participate.
Founded in 1950, the Los Altos Chapter, Daughters of the American Revolution is a nonpartisan women’s service organization focused on education, historic preservation, genealogy, environmental conservation, and support for veterans. Members trace their lineage to individuals who supported the American Revolution through military, financial, or civic service. Visit losaltos.californiadar.org to learn more.
