Socialize, enjoy wine and snacks, and uncover Gemello Neighborhood’s past and the 50+ acre winery on El Camino Real that was a mainstay of the community from the 1930s-1980s.
About the program
In the depths of the Great Depression, the father-son duo of John and Mario Gemello launched The Gemello Winery in the heart of Mountain View. The winery would thrive producing award-winning wines for nearly six decades as Mountain View’s and Los Altos’s population swelled around it. Kevin Ferguson, the maternal grandson of Mario and Kay Gemello, will share the history of this legendary winery. Ferguson is the author of the forthcoming book, Rain on the Monte Bello Ridge, a memoir about heath, aging and winemaking in the San Francisco Bay Area.
The neighborhood block party is an opportunity for you to discover your community and contribute to the Museum’s exploration of the area’s rich history by sharing your memories. View a display of historic photographs of Gemello Winery and other landmarks on the video walls of the Permanent Exhibition, and discover the story of the Gemello neighborhood.
Registration is required.
$10/person, free to Museum members
