Conversations and Reflections: The African American Experience in Santa Clara County

We are pleased to present a panel discussion with renowned historians Jan Batiste Adkins, author of African Americans of San Jose and Santa Clara County, and Kathy Cotton, producer of the documentary “A Place at the Table” for the Silicon Valley Black Project. They will be joined by Kenan Moos, 2020 Los Altan of the Year and director of Justice Vanguard non-profit organization, as well as Dr. Perlita Dicochea, chair of the Museum’s Justice, Equity, Diversity and Inclusion Committee.

About the Program
The panelists will share insights on strategies used by African Americans to overcome discrimination in Santa Clara County, particularly in areas including housing, job opportunities, and community building. They will spotlight leaders that have made significant contributions to their respective fields, even in the face of intentional obstacles to advancement, offering a source of reflection and inspiration.

Refreshments will be provided.
