Join the Orchard Commons Committee Chair Jane Packard for a presentation on the history of the Los Altos Heritage Orchard, and how lessons from the past will shape the future of this landmark. Learn about the new drip irrigation system funded by Valley Water and the City of Los Altos. Give your input as the Museum takes leadership in shaping the next chapter for the orchard.
The health of the apricot grove has declined after a series of droughts. We will seek best practices for maintaining the orchard that are water-wise, soil-building, and pollinator friendly. We also want to create inviting spaces to showcase the beauty of urban green space, provide equitable access and inclusive shared harvest of the apricots, and invite discovery through Citizen Science. Come share your feedback and suggestions as we develop restoration plans.
