Enjoy fun activities centered around Science, Technology, Engineering and Math in this event for all ages.
From the agricultural period when this area was known as The Valley of Heart’s Delight, to the high-tech hub of today’s Silicon Valley, science, technology, engineering and math have been utilized in farming, manufacturing, and design. Explore science through history with hands-on activities and awe-inspiring demonstrations. Sign up in advance for workshops on crafting a binary code bracelet, and discovering Fibonacci patterns in nature.

Engineering with Domino Chain Reactions • Robotics Demonstrations • LEGOS with Brick Tech • Engineering a Mars landing with eggs • Volume and the Pythagorean Theorem • Los Altos Library’s 3D printer and Go Go Biblio • Catapulting apricot pits • Building marshmallow towers • Photo sensitive art • Making a sundial • Batteries and Magnets • Science of Apricot Cutting and Jam-Making • Insulating with recycled materials • Orchard-themed games and activities • Guided tours of the historic J. Gilbert Smith House • Much, much more!

10-11:30am Lisa Newman, Author of “For the Love of Apricots,” will hold a book signing and conversation about all things apricots, and share her delicious recipes.

Binary Code Bracelets
Learn to code while making a bracelet! Teen Docents will teach how to convert the letters of a name or initials into secret Binary code.
Open to ages 6 and up. 45 minutes. Materials fee $10
