The Museum’s collections help tell the stories of Los Altos, Los Altos Hills and the surrounding area. We provide access to our collections via exhibitions, school and public programs, research requests, by publishing a weekly column in the Town Crier titled Peek into the Past, and by posting historical photos on our Facebook page. The Museum also occasionally loans objects to other exhibiting institutions. These activities are driven by our mission and promote a greater understanding of the history of Los Altos and Los Altos Hills.

Research and Public Inquiries
Do you have a question about our local history, about your house or your family? The Museum has many resources that can help you find answers. For general research inquiries and to set up an appointment, please call 650.948.9427 x16 or email firstname.lastname@example.org. Research requests are processed in the order they are received and may take up to four weeks to process. We are available for research appointments Monday through Friday.
Collecting stories is as important as collecting objects, photos, and archival materials. In fact, it is often the stories that make history come alive. If you would like to recommend a Los Altos or Los Altos Hills resident for an oral history interview, please email the Oral History Committee at email@example.com or call the Collections Specialist at 650.948.9427 x11.
Volunteer in Collections
We are always looking for volunteers who can help with cataloguing objects and photos, or who are interested in interviewing people or transcribing oral history interviews. Volunteer opportunities in the Collections department are available Mondays through Fridays. Please visit the Volunteer page to find out more.
