LOS ALTOS, CA (October 24, 2023) – Los Altos History Museum presents “Catch the Spirit,” an afternoon of festive cheer and cultural enrichment scheduled for Wednesday, November 15 from noon – 4pm.
A fusion of holiday traditions, musical performances, home-baked delights, and unique shopping experiences, the event originally began as an exclusive gathering for Museum members. It has grown into an annual community affair that extends a warm invitation to the general public.
“Beyond the merriment, this gathering plays a vital role in generating funds to support the Museum’s diverse exhibitions and educational programs,” said Board Vice-President and Store Manger Vicki Holman. “As a token of our appreciation, attendees will be treated to a captivating choral concert of seasonal tunes, and complimentary home-baked sweet and savory goodies provided by dedicated volunteers.”
The schedule includes:
A live choral performance by Schola Cantorum of Silicon Valley at 1:15pm, followed by the Blach and Egan Junior High School choir at 2:30pm.
Guided tours of the historic J. Gilbert Smith House, decorated to transport visitors back to a 1930s Christmas.
Shopping opportunities at two Museum boutiques offering a variety of unique gifts.
Admission to “Catch the Spirit” is free, providing a cultural entry point into the holiday season. For more information, visit losaltoshistory.org/cts2023.
Los Altos History Museum began in 1977 with the opening of the J. Gilbert Smith House historic farmhouse, built in 1905. In 2001, the Los Altos History Museum opened its modern building next door, which houses the Museum’s collections, permanent and changing exhibits, store and administrative offices. The Museum and its grounds are available for rent during evenings and weekends. Its collections are owned by the City of Los Altos and are managed by an independent nonprofit organization, whose staff and volunteers are responsible for all programs and operations.
The Museum is open Thursday through Sunday, from noon-4pm. Admission is free. Tours of the J. Gilbert Smith House are available during open hours. The outdoor agricultural exhibit, gardens and picnic area are accessible beyond Museum hours.
