The Museum’s lower level is the repository of the archive and object collections, including artifacts, maps, photos, manuscripts, clippings, oral histories and memorabilia. General research questions that may be answered by research into our holdings can be submitted to our volunteers. For on-site research, the collection database is available to public researchers by appointment. Both inquiries and appointments are handled at (650) 948-9427, Ext. 16 or email email@example.com.
News from the Archive
A museum was forecast in this 1954 newspaper (at about the time Gilbert sold land to the brand-new City of Los Altos). Note the date on the wall – off by just 7 years.
View the “Los Altos History Show” on-line! Go to www.LosAltosHistoryShow.com to view one of the 56+ titles recording local history. These wonderful programs, recently transferred from VHS to DVD; copies are here and at the library. Many thanks to Nan Geschke and her talented brother, Tom McDonough, in St. Louis who made this happen. See the list of shows here.
Donation to the Collection
If you have an item which you feel might enhance our collection (and that pertains to the history or people of Los Altos and the surrounding area), please contact a collection volunteer at (650) 948-9427, Ext. 16 or send email to firstname.lastname@example.org. Docents and store volunteers are not able to accept any items. Thank you for considering an item donation to the museum.
Records your Memories
If you or someone you know would like to recommend a Los Altos or Los Altos Hills resident for an oral history recording session of his or her memories, please send an email to the Oral History Committee at email@example.com.
